Cast a Vote in The Cheesecake Factory's "Share Your Voice" Singing Competition

October 11, 2010
Grand Prize Winner will meet American Idol Season 9 Winner Lee DeWyze at The Cheesecake Factory in Hollywood

CALABASAS HILLS, Calif., Oct 11, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- This summer, The Cheesecake Factory, asked Americans to "Share Your Voice" in a multifaceted movement to raise awareness for Feeding America's Hunger Action Month in September. One component of the campaign encouraged inspired singers to submit a performance of the uplifting song "Lean on Me" online or at many of the American Idol Live concert tour stops across the United States. The Cheesecake Factory received more than 1,000 "Idol-oke" submissions, and now in true American Idol-style, it's America's turn to vote on the four finalists to select the grand prize winner.

The public can cast a vote for their favorite singer online at http://www.thecheesecakefactory.com/share from now until October 17, 2010. Voters will also have the chance to win more than 100 instant prizes, including cheesecake for a year, complimentary slices of cheesecake and $25 gift cards.*

The grand prize winner, who will be announced on October 18, 2010, will win an all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles to meet American Idol Season 9 Winner and Hunger Action Month Spokesperson Lee DeWyze at The Cheesecake Factory in Hollywood.

"We were delighted that so many people embraced this cause and collectively shared their voices at American Idol Live concerts and on our website," said The Cheesecake Factory Founder David Overton. "We were so impressed with the talent and creativity in all of the submissions, and look forward to seeing who America deems the ultimate Idol-oke grand prize winner."

As a part of the "Share Your Voice" initiative, The Cheesecake Factory succeeded in achieving its commitment to raise 3.5 million meals for Feeding America. The Cheesecake Factory achieved this goal with the help of thousands of inspired individuals who donated through its special website during Hunger Action Month and by contributing a portion of proceeds from the sale of each slice of its new Reese's(R) Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake to Feeding America. Additionally, staff at The Cheesecake Factory restaurants nationwide coordinated a peanut butter drive to donate to local food banks, and collected over 60 tons of peanut butter during Hunger Action Month. The Cheesecake Factory has donated more than $1.7 million to Feeding America over the past two years, which equates to approximately 12 million meals.
