The Cheesecake Factory Bakery Expands Its Supplier Relationship To Red Lobster Restaurants

CALABASAS HILLS, Calif., June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- As previously referred to in the Company's press release of April 22, 1999, The Cheesecake Factory Bakery Incorporated, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated (Nasdaq: CAKE), announced today a significant expansion of its 13-year relationship as a supplier to Darden Restaurants, Inc., the world's largest operator of casual dining restaurants.

Effective today, Darden's 634-unit Red Lobster(R) has completed the rollout of a new menu that includes four quality dessert offerings produced exclusively for Red Lobster by the Company. "We are delighted to have earned the opportunity to supply additional high-quality, customized desserts for Red Lobster's menu after an extensive supplier competition and market test," said Max Byfuglin, Executive Vice President -- Bakery of the Company. "We are very proud of our long-standing relationship as a business partner with such a highly respected and successful restaurant company as Red Lobster."

The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated operates 29 upscale, casual dining restaurants under The Cheesecake Factory name that offer an extensive menu of more than 200 items with an average check of approximately $14.63. Cheesecake Factory restaurants are currently open in Southern California (10), Washington D.C. (2), South Florida (5), Chicago (2), Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston (2), Dallas, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas and Westbury, NY. The Company also operates a bakery production facility that produces over 50 varieties of quality cheesecakes and other baked products for the Company's restaurants and for other foodservice operators and distributors. Grand Lux Cafe(TM), the Company's upscale casual dining restaurant created for the Venetian Resort- Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas, was opened in May 1999. The Company operates a self-service, limited menu foodservice operation under The Cheesecake Factory Express(TM) name inside the DisneyQuest(TM) family entertainment concept in Orlando, Florida. The Company also licenses three bakery cafe outlets to another foodservice operator under The Cheesecake Factory(R) name.
